Revelations about the decades-long pattern of rape and sexual harassment by movie producer Harvey Weinstein have once again demonstrated the depth of sexism and misogyny in our society.

Simultaneously, the Trump administration and Congress are leading a series of attacks on women’s healthcare, emboldening politicians to wage state-level legislative attacks on women’s reproductive rights, and giving confidence to right-wing activists who target and harass women at clinics.

The need for a new women’s movement is urgent, and it must take an unapologetic approach to defending our rights.

While some feminists embrace “power feminism,” based on elevating women to the halls of power, socialists prioritize the demands of the vast majority of women and the demands specifically raised by women of color – for an end to rape culture, for access to abortion and all healthcare, for equal pay, for childcare, for safety from the police state, and so much more.

Join the ISO for a discussion about the links between women’s oppression and capitalism and how socialists fight for a world free of sexism and misogyny.
